Pre-release coverage: everything below comes from the free demo, official store pages and press previews. We re-verify every fact at launch on August 27, 2026.

Prologue — the Storm and the Mayday

The opening cutscene shows Uncle Lou planning to fly home the next day — then the storm hits. You pick up Hefti's radio call (“Mayday, Mayday”), create your character, and the sailor Wilson boats you to Lou's Island, where the community is storm-damaged and Lou is nowhere to be found (demo).

Hefti the walrus pilot greets the player on the beach: 'You're the spitting image of Uncle Lou!'

Main Quest Chain — Lou's Island Act demo quest names

  1. “A New Beginning.” Tutorial on the island: movement (running, jumping, vine climbing, swimming), meeting Hefti — the walrus pilot whose plane you'll be fixing — and your first Swirler scooping. Ability order: Swirler first, then Double Jump unlocks once you carry it.
  2. “Proper Propelling.” Hefti's plane needs a propeller — the hunt begins.
  3. “Rascal Rescue.” The masked troublemaker duo Clip & Clap stole the propeller. Track them to their “secret base” on the beach and get it back.
  4. “In the Market for a Microchip.” Buy a microchip at Jackie's Treasures, the boathouse shop — it costs 4 shellings, your first real purchase.
  5. “To Tanglebloom.” Craft 6 Refined Wood + 4 Refined Metal (the Refinery converts your scooped driftwood and scrap) to repair Hefti's plane. Then comes your first flight — with a ring-challenge tutorial en route — landing at Tangle Bloom Town to ask Mayor Bubo about the storm-damaged radio tower. Why Tangle Bloom? Jane is off researching in its archipelago, and the rebuild needs her back (Hefti's dialogue, demo).
  6. “Builder-in-Chief.” Mayor Bubo (after some convincing — “Our radio tower needs repairs? Nonsense!”) sends you to the boatman Gondo, who ferries you to Norleaf. Meet Bobster at the radio tower and deliver refined wood and metal to start repairs. (The demo wraps around this arc.)
