The Swirler

The Swirler is a vacuum multi-tool and your answer to almost everything. Its four official abilities:

• Scoop — vacuum up resources: scrap, native plants and materials dropped by Limbo's wildlife. Hold to harvest, with a faster-suction booster; scooping drains a rechargeable battery gauge (demo);
• Build — turn materials into building repairs and crafted goods;
• Glide — traversal assistance (the full game unlocks a Glider before Gleam Reef);
• Fish — a fishing ability is officially confirmed; GameSpew lists a fishing rod among Fidge's tool prices.

Battery capacity is upgradeable (a demo upgrade takes it from 10 to 11 charges), and picking up the Swirler also unlocks the Double Jump (demo). Naming note: the demo UI labels it “Swirler 1.0” while press material says “Swirler 2000” — GameSpew also lists Swirler 2.0 and 3.0, so the numbers are tool tiers.

Confirmed Recipes & Prices demo values

Recipe not yet verified in a current full-game save: GameSpew's crafting guide and walkthrough both list 3× Driftwood. Both articles are the same outlet and the same author, not independent checks. This site's earlier demo UI record is 5× Driftwood. Use the input and output counts shown by your installed version. Patch 1.1.0 shortened craft times and did not say it changed recipes.

Known gatherables so far: Driftwood, Scrap, Heartberry, Waterberry, Spinfruit, Zanana — the last two feed Granny's curry side quest. Each island's map keeps a resource dex with undiscovered “???” slots (demo).

Currency

The demo shows a dual-currency setup: shellings (the pink-shell coin used at shops) plus a separate gold coin counter — coins also appear as chest loot per press previews; how the two interact is still to be confirmed. Earn shellings by selling respawning fruit and finishing quests. GameSpew's full-game guide adds two more regular sources: chests, and pirates (about 100 Shellings each). The effects of pirate attacks have not been verified here for the current version. Do not treat the earlier claim that pirates cannot knock you out as a confirmed rule.

Where to find Circuitry

Circuitry is buried on Norleaf. You need the Scooper 1.0 from Fidge. Published walkthroughs disagree on the Shelling cost and required materials. Check the price and recipe shown by Fidge in your version before buying materials. GameSpew's walkthrough found pieces right off the boat. They look like old desktop PCs. With the Scooper equipped, press down on the d-pad to light up buried objects in range.

Gamer Social Club, writing on 25 August 2026, also mentioned old computers underground that yield electrical parts. That matches the look. They did not name Circuitry or say Norleaf, so the island still comes from GameSpew.

Spend it at the Manufacturer: 4× Circuitry + 1× Bronze Scale makes a Microchip. Jackie still sells one Microchip for 4 shellings in the opening act. Later, Microchips go into Energy Pearls, then Power Sources.

We have not mapped every spawn. If your in-game Lexicom lists another island after you discover it, trust that over this page.

Where to get Woodthorn

Woodthorn grows on Lou's Island. You need Swirler 2.0 first (Fidge, 8 Magnetic Pulse Bolts and 4,250 Shellings). GameSpew puts it on the higher, grassy parts of the island: a small conical plant, and they say there is plenty of it.

The Refinery turns 3× Woodthorn + 3× Refined Wood into Bolstered Wood, once Spark Cores have unlocked that recipe. The Glider wants 4 Bolstered Wood plus 1,200 Shellings, so that is 12 Woodthorn and 12 Refined Wood.

The demo UI number for Refined Wood is 5× Driftwood. GameSpew's crafting guide and walkthrough both wrote 3×. Patch 1.1.0 did not declare a recipe change. Neither figure is treated as the verified live recipe; use the quantities and output shown by your installed version.

Where to find Clam Powder

Clam Powder is on Norleaf. GameSpew's 27 August 2026 alphabetical gatherable list puts it behind the Scooper 2. Buy that upgrade from Fidge and check the cost shown in your version — published walkthroughs disagree on Scooper prices. We have not farmed every spawn ourselves.

The Refinery recipe in that same list is 2× Pebble + 1× Clam Powder for Glass. Treat the in-game quantities as the live figure.

Where to find a Tire

A Tire is dug with Scooper 2 on Boulderia and Gleam Reef, according to GameSpew's 27 August 2026 crafting list. That list refines 1× Tire into Super Plast. Cable later wants Super Plast plus a Copper Scale at the Manufacturer.

Is there Fern in Lou's Lagoon?

Fern does not appear on GameSpew's 27 August 2026 alphabetical gatherable list (Beever Oil through Zoombloom) or on their craftable list. Into Indie Games, TheXboxHub, Comfy Cozy Gaming, and the TrueAchievements names we checked also do not list an item called Fern.

That is a gap in published guides, not proof the word never shows in a later patch or in your Lexicom. If your game shows Fern, trust the in-game entry. Nearby published plants on grassy islands include Woodthorn on Lou's Island with Swirler 2, and Groove Herb on Gleam Reef.

Is there Silk in Lou's Lagoon?

Silk does not appear on GameSpew's 27 August 2026 gatherable or craftable lists. The published fibre on that list is Wool — Swirler 2, from llama-like animals on Lou's Island.

We have not found a second guide that names Silk either. If your Lexicom lists Silk, treat that as current. Do not spend materials assuming a Silk recipe until the game shows one.

Gear Upgrades — Jane's Lab

Jane's Lab at the community hub sells equipment upgrades (battery capacity confirmed; inventory slots also expand via a treasure chest find). Jane herself is away in the demo. GameSpew's later chapters send gadget buys to Fidge instead — treat that as their full-game route until we confirm whether Jane's shop returns.

There's an outfit system too — the wardrobe includes a full “Lou's Standard Uniform” delivery outfit (demo).
